When The Starlet was born I wanted to do something extraordinary for her. Little did I know that the idea was utterly insane. My goal was to get video of her every single day for a year. Every. Single. Day. For a year. Then, I would put together a video with one second from every day. Every. Single. Day. Continue reading →
For my son’s birth, I wanted to make sure that he would have something to look back on years later to see what we went through that day. I will never forget staging our bags by the door, our family arriving at the hospital, the pain my wife went through after 25 hours of contractions, the relief she felt after the epidural, and the rest she was able to get and needed before the final 3 hours of pushing. I will never forget taking the first picture of my son, the first time he wrapped his little hand around my finger, the first time I looked at my wife and my child together, and the wonderment of holding him for the first time. My son.
Happy 2nd birthday to my little man, The Understudy.

Every year, men are challenged to grow moustaches during Movember (the month formerly known as November) to spark conversation and raise funds for prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health problems. This year, Pat and Kepley are proud to join the online dad community in raising awareness and growing mustaches to change the face of men’s health. It all starts on November 1st with men everywhere taking part in Shave the Date.
Pat hasn’t been clean shaven in 13 years and Kepley might take a while, but it’s been told that he can grow one creepy mo. We really hope you will help us support this amazing cause.
The times they are a changin’. The rise of the modern dad has been gradual until now. There are more and more people, publications, and corporations realizing that it’s awesome to be a dad and a market to be had. The most effective way to reach the masses and spread the good word has been through advertising. Kudos to the new Peanut Butter Cheerios for showing the power of dadvertising for social change in America with their #HowToDad.
At 18 months old, my son (“The Understudy”), has been on 14 flights; 9 of those flights were solo with me, his father. In every airport, at every gate, and on every plane, I have seen the fear in the eyes of the child-free adults. This is their worst nightmare.
The Wife and I have 3 sets of parents spread out in 3 different states. It’s very rare that they are all in the same place at the same time. On The Understudy’s first birthday, they were all in town and, being the awesome children that we are, we decided to shock them with a pregnancy announcement.
As part of the social media fun, we posted this picture when it was time to announce the pregnancy to the social media world.
